(update) bloods LFT results ??

Hi, me again! Just thought I’d drop an update for those that have been following my posts the past couple of days.

As you’d of read I had good results from my US at the start of the week.

My LFT results have arrived, I’m aware I can’t share exact results. All levels came back within range apart from AST which was elevated by 16 points. ALT was just in range. Could anyone shed any light on what this might mean? Is this high? I have no idea what any of it means and at the same time staying away from Dr Google, hence why I’m asking you lovely lot! (: What I can confirm is that my AST has been raised by the margin in each of my 3 tests over the last 4 years.

Thank you and kind regards.

I am NOT a doctor. So feel free to ignore me -

The fact that ALL your numbers (your words) came back in the good range except one and the one out of range is only ever so slightly out of range means that you are probably not sick. Live a long good and healthy life following a healthy lifestyle!

I am NOT a doctor, so feel free to go to one to double check.

Congratulations on this terrific news!

Thank you for your words! As I mentioned in previous post I follow this group closely and have done for years, it truly is a great community.

I have. Fibroscan on Monday which will be the final hurdle. I just find it amazing that it’s ‘so far so good’ given the amount I was drinking.

Thanks again.

You're welcome. The liver is amazing but it can only take so much, please don't take this good news as an invitation to keep drinking.

I will be sober for 2 years in June. I have completely turned my life around. My business is making 3x the amount of profit, travelling all the time. Happy in my own skin these days, will never go back.

I am also not a Dr but have had a lot of personal experience in reading bloods. Heres my take, AST and ALT can rise for loads of reasons, every meal, every drink, every medication, they are supposed to. My AST does the same, sometimes it might be 20 next month 35, and to be honest it has maybe always been that way. AST with starting medication can also jump up. So i would not panic at all, the secret is to keep an eye on it, check it again in a couple of weeks and if its still elevated then see your Dr, but a rise of 16 is not very big at all, what Drs look for s many times over the normal, most times it is transient and more so if isolated, what are your other markers looking like, actually ALT is more specific than AST for liver damage anyways.

My ALT was the higher end of normal but still within range which was good. All others are low including gamma etc. In all fairness I don’t have a healthy diet and I’m a stone and a half above my recommended bmi which won’t help and what I intend to work on next. My AST levels have been the same for about 5 years - slightly raised but all others fine.
