hi just wondering what the roadshows are like and how can you get scanned. My reason for asking is I have high gamma gt over 400, raised SAP over 150, serum alt level over 170, AST over 100. I have 57 week wait to see someone at my local hospital and my GP thinks I need a fibroscan. Ultrasound scan showed nothing in 2014 and 2022. My levels have been rising since 2004 and GP kept telling me everything is okay because scans were okay. I don’t drink much at most 1 bottle of wine a month and now I have stopped and levels are still rising. I’m overweight but I also have an under active thyroid so losing weight is a battle. I’m exhausted all the time but at the same time I can’t sleep. I am worried my liver is damaged and wondered if a fibroscan would help and if the roadshow is my answer

Dear Fergus883782

Our Love Your Liver roadshow events are for people who want to find out more about their liver health or are worried that they may be at risk of developing liver disease. You can find out more here:

britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

However, if you are concerned in any way about your liver health, please do not wait for a Love Your Liver roadshow, always talk to your GP as soon as you can.

Best wishes

thank you I was just concerned they may not scan me as I already have liver blood results - I have seen my GP and she thinks I need further investigation including a fibroscan but the waiting time at my local hospital is 57 weeks

HiI looked on your love your liver roadshows list about a month ago, and it listed Derby as one of the city's you would be going although it did state dates we| TBC. But Derby has now disappeared from the list.

Does this mean you are no longer coming to Derby??

Kind regards

Melanie

Dear Pasturesnew

Sorry for the delay, we were waiting for an update from the Love your Liver roadshow team. Unfortunately it looks like we won’t be able to attend Derby now due to a lack of funding.

Best wishes

Abnormal liver results seem common with hypothyroidism. Have you checked your thyroid blood tests to check you are optimally medicated?Karen

hi - thank you I didn’t realise that but yes Doctor checked my thyroid and they are all fine with the 100mg of thyroxine I’m on. My liver results have been getting worse for years so I’m just getting concerned as GP keeps saying everything is ok because there’s nothing on the ultrasound and don’t worry we see people with gamma gt of over 1000 so 450 is nothing to worry about. As it’s gone from being below 55 to over 400 I don’t want it to keep increasing. In Sept last year it was 306 now it’s 450. My other results AST, etc are also increasing

It's best to get the actual numbers with reference ranges for thyroid tests.Yes, it's usually AST, GGT, ALT which can be higher than they should be in thyroid sufferers.
