Hello Everyone,
I'm making my husband meals he has Childs C scale is it and cirrhosis and had TIPPS procedure and now a diabetic.
He's currently sofa bound due to injured leg and wrist but we've managed to get him into kitchen twice now which is great progress.
My question is we have a dietician appointment end of month but in meantime I'm trying to feed him with recommendations from liver Consultants and diabetic nurses and what I've read on British Liver Trust site (which Consultant recommended).
Thing is his appetite has improved since he's been forced through injury to rest and eat what i give him π which is great and he's says internal wise he feels the best he's felt in ages but I'm struggling with what to make.
Red meat a no no due to salt so I'm swapping between fresh soup, chicken and fish with lots of green veg with main meal. Breakfast is cereal with blueberries and blackberries or raspberries I got strawberries but he's recently said they're to be avoided as so high in sugar. His treats ie dessert are small sugar free jelly and custard (mostly green and 1 Amber on packaging) and real treat is a chocolate biscuit with his cup of tea. He eats pears, bananas, has organic cocoa for a warm drink (doesn't like coffee anymore) occasionally salad he's not a fan except tomatoes. He has wholemeal bread etc, But I'm actually struggling with is this right everything I buy is fresh (chicken from supermarket packet from fridge though not from butchers). He's on fortisip but I'm actually confused as to what to give him variety wise?
I follow guidance on food packaging for low salt/medium at a push, low sugars, low fat etc but it's hard as different brands seem to have different ideas of what's high when I've compared.
I read somewhere recently it's greens greens greens for liver is this true?
Thank you in advance.
