Just to update you all…
Hubby been home for about 5 weeks now, had few spikes, but none since last Monday
On IV antibiotics, we have the most amazing district nurses
Palliative team are doing his advance plan
Found out today Alkaline is over 4500 so isn’t good although all other bloods are behaving somewhat
Losing weight, nausea and loss of appetite seems to be the norm
He is fighting with everything, heartbreaking to see him like this
Hi there, Community Nurses are amazing aren’t they, and palliative care teams too. I’m glad you’ve got them on board as they can support you as you support hubby. It’s terribly hard to see a loved one going through this - you have my sympathy, I know what a hard road it is. You’ll meet some incredible people along the way. Draw on their strength to bolster your own.

I’m struggling a lot at the moment
I want to believe he can pull through but alkaline levels are too high and doesn’t seem to be bothering any of his team
Just feel so empty
I know, it’s just numbing isn’t it. You kind of function on autopilot while the professionals do their thing around you. On good days you think it’s all going to be OK, and then you have a bad day. It’s like a rollercoaster that you just want to get off. Sending you a big hug

Wished that they had done something 2 years ago when this artery showed signs of blocking off… Hindsight is great … the only answer now was transplant 3 and from 2 years prior there’s been a band of medics who felt he had his fair due of surgeries and care, some even argued ethically…

You’re there with him, that’s what counts now. I hope you’ve got family and friends supporting you. My brother was great once I asked specifically for what I needed - in my case a day off to be anywhere else! Just to be out in the land of the living for a few hours. You have to look after yourself too

You’re absolutely right. Lots of people want to help but don’t know what to do. And sometimes you don’t know what to ask for because you’re so deep in the situation. But if you find yourself thinking I wish I didn’t have to… or I wish someone would… then it’s worth asking because people like to help.
Yes it's very true, there are some lovely folk on here.....we all try and help as best we can,as one way or another we are in the same boat. Unfortunately I think I can tend to waffle on abit!!! Which at times doesn't keep my help very clear!!!! Oh well,we are as we are i suppose. I do also fully understand ,well from my own point of view, the sheer need to get out af a situation and be somewhere else for once....although never quite happens. But you have given very thoughtful responses, of which you can't beat really. Some reassuring words....of which I'm sure will have helped alot of folk ,inc myself, and covid 2020. My best. Chris
Previously, I’ve been on here as ‘Pear-Shaped’, I could not get back into my account hence the new profile.
My husband has been through so many surgeries and different treatments.
It was the good folk on here who kept me sane, I couldn’t have got through it without them.
And now, I’m back again and have found the same warmth, kindness and care…
