Waiting time for liver biopsy results

Hello! I just wondered how long people are waiting for liver biopsy results? I was told that the results would be available in 5-10 days, but 6 weeks later my consultant still doesn't have the results and doesn't know how much longer it will be. Just wondering if this is normal at the moment, or whether my sample has been lost. Thanks!

My hubby was an inpatient for his first biopsy and they had him wait in hospital for a further week in anticipation of results. In the end they discharged him and results didn't come back for 8 weeks having been sent through to Edinburgh for the real liver experts to have a look before confirming diagnosis. I have heard of even longer waits on AIH facebook page.

Hi, thanks for replying - think I will do some more chasing to try and find out why mine are taking so long! I hope your results were ok.
