hello. My husband had his MRICP last week and a further follow up CT scan of his chest. The chest is clear but there are lesions on his liver. The multi disciplinary team haven't met about him yet. He had a biopsy on Friday and he is now home after 5 days in the hospital. He has only been unwell for 3 weeks with unexplained weight loss for 5. So no plan and no treatment yet. I am. It even sure about the extent of the cancer.
He is very tired and wants to sleep all the time. He tells me he feels rubbish all the time. He is giddy when standing up and is wobbly on his feet. He is also a bit confused. I am worried about this. Am I right to be worried or is it due to 4 nights of no sleep and a lot of nil by mouth. Also why is his mouth dry and what can I do to sort this out? Do I need to see the GP tomorrow?
Thanks in advance .

Hello I am sorry to hear that your husband is unwell. Worrying times. Personally I would see the GP tomorrow if possible. Even if its just to check his blood pressure which may be causing the lightheaded wobbly feeling when he stands up. Have you got a home BP monitor? How is his appetite now? If he isn't eating well that won't be helping and maybe he has low blood sugar? Hubby will obviously be feeling concerned and this alone can make you feel mentally exhausted and worn out. Are you waiting for an appointment to come through for the follow up with consultant? If there are cancer concerns then this should be happening quite quickly. You can get a dry mouth from anxiety but the GP will be able to look into the cause. I hope all improves soon.
If you would find it useful to talk things over, our nurse-led helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 (excluding bank holidays)
Hi, you’re bound to be worried but hopefully you won’t have to wait too long for the MDT to meet and get back to you. Tiredness and a dry mouth could be due to a liver condition, but equally to the stress of being in hospital. Write it down so that you can talk to the GP and or hospital when you next see them to get his results. In the meantime frequent sips of water can help with the dry mouth. There are sprays and lozenges that a doctor can prescribe if necessary. Re the fatigue, rest when needed. It’s boring and frustrating but going through tests and being in hospital is exhausting. For you as well as him! Best wishes
