From your profile information where you say you've had liver fibrosis for many years and now have p/h with varices it looks likely you have F4 fibrosis a.k.a. cirrhosis. Providing you don't have any bleeding varices then its still considered compensated at this point.

Keep looking after yourself.

hi there. From what you have posted you have stage 4 decompensated liver cirrhosis. I have similar issues to yourself, please feel free to get in touch with me and all the best

As the original poster makes no mention of having ascites or bleeding from varices and everything it under control at present they would still be in the compensated stage rather than decompensated.

Cirrhosis staging is listed as:-

Stage 1 No Varices No Acites (Compensated)

Stage 2 Varices No Ascites (Compensated)

Stage 3 Ascites, +/- Varices (Decompensated)

Stage 4 Bleeding (from varices), +/- Ascites (Decompensated)

My hubby was initially decompensated on first diagnosis - bleeding from varices - but now having had all his varices banded and only some tiny ones in a non banding area he is considered stage 1-2 compensated cirrhosis.

With this question, it's more expedient to contact your doctors, since only they know all the results of your examinations. Portal hypertension and esophageal varices can occur in both F4 cirrhosis and fibrosis at any level from F0 to F3 and then it is called non-cirrhotic portal hypertension.

Katie is correct in my opinion I’m at the same stage as her hubby, having had the Barrett’s bleeds and banding, still compensated. All the best
