Hi Kristina, whilst your bloods are elevated they arn't massively so. Is your doctor investigating why you have a pattern of elevated enzymes? It could be the medication - or indeed I guess you are on that medication for under active thyroid which may go hand in hand with non alcohol related fatty liver disease.

NAFLD is controllable/reversible with a healthy diet and exercise though obviously the thyroid issue is also not going to help.

My Dr is calling me to discuss my results. They might as you say be due to the levothyroxine but I havent heard that it is one of the medications that can affect liver enzyme readings . I thank you for your reply and hopefully it is something like that and not anything to worry about!

Has the doctors tested you for Autoimmune Hepatitis( AIH) ?

My first symptoms of AIH was elevated Alat and GGT.

The Dr said with AIH the levels are high with ALT and positive ANA AMA .? My levels of ALT AST ans GGT are only slightly elevated and the ANA AMA were ok so at the moment not thinking it is AIH. I hope you are managing your condition ok 🙂

I too am on levothyroxine when first diagnosed with aih they had to reduce from100 to 75 . They also stopped statins . However once pred reduced from 60 to now 5 and Azathioprine 50 . I have just had bloods all normal and within limits except thyroid so thyroxine back to 100 . I also take thyroxine when I first wake up or earlier if you can as you have to take an hour before any caffeine. I then take pred and aza with lanzaprazole after breakfast . Statin and adcal I take at teatime. All good at the minute and definitely no adverse effects.
