Hello I’m here trying get a better understanding of this disease from ladies and gentlemen as yourselves. I was diagnosed with this 5 years ago. I don’t really have any symptoms as of yet. Didn’t even know I had it until I went for my check-up at my Gastro. I have been told there isn’t any medications they can give but to come back every 6 months. That’s one thing that puzzles me is why I need to return there if nothing can be done. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for excepting me into the group. I too have Cirrhosis.
Although there is little they can do to treat the cirrhosis they need to monitor you well going forward in order to pick up and treat the various other symptoms that having cirrhosis can bring with it. 6 monthly scans, 6 monthly bloods is the standard level of monitoring.
The BLT page on cirrhosis might prove of use to you. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

It’s just to keep an eye on you don’t knock it. Through my cirrhosis checks they found liver cancer which has been treated by radiotherapy, last check still stable, every cloud eh. Like me you will find this site a breath of fresh air it’s great and you learn so much that the professionals don’t tell you. Welcome and enjoy all the best.
They are checking that there aren't any abnormalities cropping up. When you have cirrhosis, your risk of liver cancer goes up as does complications from things like varices. So it's just checking you out. While this might be a bit alarming at first, turning it around the other way, liver cancer can be a silent killer because it tends to cause no pain. Therefore as we age and advance it is better to be getting regular checks than not.
