cirrhos anyway?

Hello

I wonder if someone with experience can answer these questions?

I have symptoms that could lead to cirrhosis of the liver. these are: pain in the stomach on the right side. losing hair. pain in the feet in the evening. a swollen knee. yellow poop.

my blood values have been a little above normal but a month ago alt, ast, sodium, pk inr, albumin were within the limit again. (only alt that was high then)

could i have liver cirrhosis?

have drunk a lot of alcohol in the past but not very much now, one bottle of wine/week.

grateful if someone takes the time to answer

I had a mri, ct , and ultrasound done, they found nothing

It’s highly unlikely that blood tests and ultrasound, MRI and CT could miss cirrhosis. I have cirrhosis and my bloods are normal. I’m well compensated and also vey well. My liver is functioning ok despite the damage. My ultrasound, however, shows cirrhotic changes. Imaging will not miss cirrhosis. Particularly when you’ve had 3 modalities and all are clear. You’re obviously still worried, so why not knock alcohol on the head completely for a while and see if it helps. I also assume that given you’ve had all these tests you’ve spoken to the doctors when you’ve had the results. It may be worth trying to see your GP just to have a final reassurance from them. Also you are describing symptoms which are clearly bothering you. See if they’ll suggest anything else which may help. I think you can rest assured, however, that it’s highly unlikely it’s liver related.

thank you for your answer. I haven't had any alcohol for 2 months now. yes I have to talk to my doctor again. don't know why I'm convinced my symptoms are due to the liver 🤷‍♀️

mri, ct and ultrasound were done in January. it couldn't have been fibrosis then and liver cirrhosis now?

Cirrhosis takes years to develop. Fibrosis would have been picked up on scans in January in the same way cirrhosis would. There’s no way in 6 months things could progress from no issues to cirrhosis.

thank you for your time, I also had a gallbladder operation a year ago, don't know how much you see on the liver then..

I'm going to have an examination where you irradiate the liver with radiation and was nervous about this but now I feel a little less nervous thanks. (they will measure bile acids and its called seChat here in scandinavia)

I will definitely talk to my doctor about my concerns as well. my symptoms are still there. Thanks again!

I had a cholecystectomy 2.5 weeks prior to forming a blood clot in the portal vein, likely triggered by the surgery. The hepatologist was convinced I had cirrhosis and I argued with her that I had 3 scan in the previous 6 months and no red flags for cirrhosis or fibrosis, and the surgeon (gets a good view of the gallbladder) said nothing looked abnormal. Sure, a surgeon wouldn't see cancer inside or small amounts of fiber, and I'm not a doctor, but it would be really hard to miss cirrhosis. I had a liver biopsy done and turns out I have hepatoportal sclerosis with NRH (nodular regenerative hyperplasia) features.
