Liver Pain...after Dry

Hi,

First Post. Abstained for Jan. Previously diagnosed with fatty liver. Felt very healthy, good low blood pressure and sleeping well. In early Feb, resumed moderate drinking. Went away last week and drank approx 7 units each day, 2 pints of beer, 2 to 3 glasses of wine, for 4 nights. I now have a chronic pain in the liver. Abstaining again immediately but worry I may have done some damage by stopping and restarting. (Feel slightly nauseous). Any thoughts or feedback?

Hi LillieLiver and welcome to this friendly forum. The pain you are describing could be a number of things but if you are in discomfort, I would suggest speaking to your GP and also have an honest conversation about your moderate drinking. This is so the GP can accurately assess you. The only way to establish if there is an issue with your liver is to have a liver blood screen and abdominal ultrasound. Best wishes

I am diagnosed with fatty liver and after a lot of tests and a fibroscan I was told it’s at the top end of mild . I saw a specialist privately and his advice to prevent the fatty liver getting worse was to give up alcohol ( he said I could have one occasional drink but best not to) and lose weight. He said to get retested in a year. I feel so much better and healthier and haven’t missed the drinking. I’ve had a couple of slip ups with chocolate but have managed to lose a few pounds. Put your slip ups behind you and keep going . I’m sure feeling proactive and the added health benefits will outweigh giving up drinking. You can enjoy life without it

Best wishes
