Have you had a read about the condition? The BLT site has an excellent page all about AIH which might help answer some of your questions. The Facebook AIH support group is also excellent - if you look on their FILES page on the group you'll see loads of information from many of the top doctors working in AIH research and treatment in the UK because they frequently attend conference type gatherings organized by the group.
A new diagnosis can be very overwhelming. If you are UK based, you may want to call our nurse led helpline on Monday 10am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330. We can have a good chat then.
Your situation matches mine exactly even going to hospital same month. I got diagnosed initially with drug induced liver injury but changed to AIH. When I came out of hospital I felt sick, couldnt eat, felt weak and it lasted a week then I felt fine.
It could be your immunosuppressants making you ill. I took azathioprine before xmas for 10 weeks and was really ill with it and had to stop. They can have very bad side effects. Steroids make you tired. They suppress your adrenal glands so you end with adrenal fatigue.
Its only my 2nd post on here & I'm only basing it on my own personal experiences. Not a medical person😊
Thank you for taking the time to respond ot means a lot. I have a double appt with the liver specialist on Friday so I have a big list of questions for him.
