I am in second week of residential rehab. Going well, detox was fine and getting stuck into all the programmes and groups. I developed a new but mild pain around and under my left collarbone late morning but it seems to getting worse. Don't say ask the rehab nurse as she is an agency person who knows precisely nothing about liver disease. The rehab doctor is not in today. Is this the referred liver pain I have heard about? Wendy

Referred liver pain is usually in your right shoulder. Left hand side is sometimes referred splenic pain though of course could be muscular or any number of other issues.
Then the pain started?I've never heard of the pain being there but you never know if you have liver disease. I have you slept funny, are they making you sit in positions that you are not used to, have you had it before and do you have any pain anywhere else?
I had a lot of pains through the different stages of the disease. Never the collarbone, I will ask my consultant on Tuesday but if you are worried try and get some advice as soon as. Will they allow you pain relief?
Glad to hear it sweet 😌. Get some rest and relaxation and come out a changed person but be selfish and do it for you not other people..... You look into the mirror and say I'm doing this for myself I want to be me again.....xxx
Thank you. It was rough to begin with as one patient killed himself in my first week but we have a marvellous group and we all pulled each other through it. It isn't a restful place, about 7 hours of therapies a day!
Best of luck and it’s all very positive to be getting professional help. Sad about the death there but important to focus on getting stronger re alcohol issue. I wish you the very best with your treatment. I found that after initial detox in rehab and the body having to face daily life there without alcohol, that numerous miscellaneous pains was a normal enough occurrence for the duration of my stay. Many other people reported the same experience so I wouldn’t worry too much as I think it’s a normal enough symptom of later onset alcohol withdrawal. Take care..🔥🙏
Thank you for those words. It's weird, I was probably the "wellest" person, (mentally and physically) in the group during and post detox, felt great but as they are all getting better each day, physically I seem to be stalling or going backwards
Hi when I first gave up I got pains all over the place and really weird one’s, so I would say try not to worry about it to much but you must tell the nurse so that it’s recorded any pain should be recorded for the doctors to look through later. I do hope it settle’s down for you and keep up the good work your doing fantastic 👍.Stay Safe All
Hiya, so glad you're getting stuck in to all the therapy, even though it must be a slog at times! In my experience, alcohol withdrawal can bring with it many odd twinges, pains and aches in random spots! I wouldn't worry unnecessarily, if it seems to persist or worsen, then raise it with someone at next opportunity. Sometimes even anxiety and being hyperfocused on our physical health can cause niggles in places too! 😑 Hope all goes well with the rest of your rehab xxx
