Could I please ask what a reading of bilirubin of 80 and AFP of 22means? Finally got my sister to have bloods and she has had two scans yesterday with an MRI next week. We have the consultant on Tuesday. It has been her stress an anxiety that has stopped her getting help. She has ARL cirrhosis was diagnosed 6 years ago has been symptomatic again for the past 6 months. I’m guessing it won’t be good news and not sure how she will handle it I will be with her when we see the consultant. I need to prepare myself!!

I am not a doctor, listen to only doctors not someone like me.

There should be ranges on the printout you have received.

Bilirubin normal is 0.2 - 1.2 or in some labs 20 - 120 (it's the same number just multiplied by 100) For bilirubin to be 80 either it is unbelievably high or (and this is more likely I would imagine) totally normal, smack dab in the middle of 20-120.

Upper range for AFP is 20 so 22 is only mildly elevated.

See your doctor, listen to him/her not me, but relax until then.
