Hi,
Here is the NHS information on Laparoscopic cholecystectomy ( key hole gallbladder removal)
nhs.uk/conditions/gallbladd...
Routine surgery takes 1-2 hours although it does depend if it is sometimes necessary to turn a keyhole procedure into an open one, during the operation if your surgeon is unable to see your gallbladder clearly or remove it safely, that will then extend the surgery time.
We would suggest making a list of questions to fully discuss with your surgeon.
I was in and out on the same day - and they didn't do my surgery until 4.30pm (that was a long time without food, lol)

That's amazing! When was this and where? Unfortunately I was due in yesterday but they cancelled last minute half relieved half gutted!
Mine almost got cancelled but I had a meltdown and told them I needed it done now, lol. I was running a pub/B&B with my husband at the time and couldn't afford to keep taking time off to sit on a boring hospital bed not eating!
Also, they didn't want me to leave when I did - they'd rather I stayed in overnight, but I said I was told it was going to be day surgery and that's what I was having!
This was in Exeter RD&E about seven years ago now.
