Acupuncturist liver reading

So 3 months ago I had my blood results comeback in a great range. Alt 21 ast 15. I was told I was in great condition and my blood pressure is in a ideal range. Fast forward to a few days ago I went to an acupuncturist for a hamstring issue and when he did my reading(listening to your pulse) he said my liver sounded weak!! I was cleared with a normal/healthy liver after raised levels 2 years ago. I’ve also noticed my hands being red/purple mottled while in the heat. I showed my doc but she says she doesn’t believe a correlation since my health due the tests seems optimal. I’m trying not to revert back to being a person riddled with health anxiety but it’s hard not too after hearing the acupuncturist bring that up!

In part, the acupuncturist is right. No one liver test is specific or sensitive for the diagnosis of chronic liver failure. External manifestations (palmar erythema, spider nevi, gynecomastia, testicular atrophy, fetor hepaticus etc.) can provide more information.

Acupuncturist wasn’t speaking to my hands just his reading. I went to my doctor because I noticed my hands.

Hi Matthewjr, here is the link to complementary therapies on the British Liver Trust Website which may be of use.britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

A liver condition is diagnosed through bloods, scans and a review by a clinical specialist and I would suggest that you listen to your specialist who has access to your results and who has reviewed your patient history. I understand that it is easy to feel anxious but focus on the good news your clinician gave you. x

Best wishes,

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) views body systems very differently. They look at interaction of mine, body, and spirit, and such interactions manifest in one's pulse. Maybe I'm not explaining it well, and I don't know much about TCM, but they have a completely different paradigm to medicine.

Hi matthewjr,

I'm curious to know how your acupuncturist measured the pulse in the liver - stethoscope on the back?

I read in one of your earlier posts that you were having LUQ and RUQ pains, dark urine and blue veins showing. Are these issues ongoing? Sorry for the personal questions. I seem to have some similar issues (previous LUQ and RUQ pains - although not so much anymore , dark urine no matter how much water I drink, and blue veins showing in my upper right leg along with gurgling sounds in that area of the leg) and am trying to find answers.

Thank you for your post(s). I wish I could help. Best wishes.
