I was recently diagnosed with fatty liver disease (confirmed by ultrasound). I am wondering if anyone else can feel the area by their liver (I feel mine in my back, right, side) swelling when they begin to eat? It's clockwork, I can not eat all day and as soon as I take a few bites I can feel it in my back against the chair. If you were to draw a line through my liver to my back that's where I feel it.
Anyone actually experienced this?

I have fatty liver disease and mild fibrosis which has been caused by high triglycerides and a very slow draining bile duct which spasms and sometimes pushes bile up towards the liver. This sometimes causes mild pancreatitis too. I get pain when I eat in the liver area and pain and spasming in the back behind the liver as you describe. This can happen at any time of day, not always when eating but pain always escalates after food. I don't have any bile duct stones and it has taken over 10 years to be diagnosed despite numerous hospitalisations. I am now having 6 monthly monitoring at King's and may need a resection of the duct but I'm not sure when this will be. There is also a condition called sphincter of Oddi disease which gives similar symptoms but can be relieved by widening the lower end of the bile duct during a procedure called ERCP. I hope your Dr can get to the bottom of it for you soon.
The internet says it's unlikely to feel swelling in your liver, but I definitely feel something expanding and pressing against my back. I had an ultrasound and they confirmed fatty liver but said they did not see a tumor. Hopefully others will chime in. Thanks for your response.
