Lactulose... Ugh! Please help

So I started taking Lactulose yesterday again. Took it a long time ago with no problems I can remember. 1Tbs 2x a day. Now... 2Tbs 3x a day. I took the first 2Tbs and thought I would die from cramps and gas and then the runs. Drank water like a fish and still awoke dehydrated. Today I am doing 1Tbs 3x a day. Still extremely crampy and gas that can put my (disowned) brother to shame. The dogs run away!! LOL. But not much action bathroom wise. I am going to call the doc tomorrow. The pain is crazy. Will it go away?

I am unclear if I should take it immediately before meals, immediately after meals, or couple hours before or after. In a perfect world I am supposed to eat several small meals a day. Within a few days after a Paracentesis I am already bloated with fluid and can't eat anything. I drink ensure shakes a lot. About every week and half I will drain almost 9 litres. Like I said in previous post, I look like a very pregnant Skeletor. I went from very healthy 140 lbs to 110 now. Went to pharm to fill script dressed in pants and long sleeve shirt to hide spindly limbs and a sweater to hide the belly that will provoke ppl to ask "when are you due". Everybody else in shorts and tank tops.

The doc wants to try TIPS procedure again. Different hospital about 2 hrs away. Honestly I have no idea why different hospital would make a difference. If it fails again he said transplant list. Not happy about any of this and ready to off myself when hubby leaves in morning. Of course I will chicken out and live like this for the unforeseeable future. I don't consider this a life though. Punishment maybe?

Long again, sorry. Thanks for listening again, and any tips about taking Lactulose please fill me in.

Hi Kat, you sound like you are having a really tough time right now. If you are in the UK, would it help to phone our nurse led helpline? It's open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday on 0800 652 7330. Other members of the forum will hopefully be able to offer advice in taking lactulose but given how you are feeling, I'm really pleased that you are going to contact your doctor. Take care and keep us posted,Trust 10.

If you my love are a pregnant ( looking ) skeletor and I am morphing into Jabba the Hut, we should see who's feels like something else , come up with a script and make our own movie.

I have also been at the point of saying "so long, and thanks for all the fish"

Not a nice place.

Sorry to hear how you are. I'm afraid that I am as useful as a chocolate fire guard. I'm getting constipated, toxins building up and then terrible pain all over, especially my feet. I'm not retaining fluid, but I am getting fat.size 10 now 18. I hate that.

Sending you

🥰
