Hi everyone!!! I haven’t been on for quite awhile. I am in need, once again! My husband was diagnosed with cirrhosis in October 2018. He had a large gastric vessel burst!!! It was one of the scariest moments in our lives!!! He recovered well and we explored options for correcting the large vessel in his stomach. BRTO was attempted, but was not successful. Then January 2020 (pre-covid) he had a successful TIPS procedure. June of 2020 a lesion was discovered during a routine CT scan 1.1cm. Watch and wait for 3 months... showed no change “stable “. What and wait for another 3 months showed no change “stable” retest in 6 months. Retested yesterday!!! Dr called this morning with news that it now measures 1.2 cm and is classified as cancer I am terrified!!! We now have an appointment to get him listed for transplant. I feel like I’m I a dream/ nightmare. We live in Pennsylvania and have received phenomenal care at Penn State Hershey Med. If anyone has some words of wisdom or comfort, I’ll gladly take them!!!

Husband diagnosed with Liver Cancer
I have no words of wisdom but I am holding you in my heart and thinking of you. I have a link to my yoga relaxation tracks if you search relaxation it should come up. It might help you breathe at least and sleep. Sending lots of healing energy to your husband.
Hi
I know how you are feeling.
My husband was attending clinic for nearly 5 years after being diagnosed with cirrhosis due to Alpha 1 Anti Trypsin deficiency. On holiday in 2011 his liver failed . Came home and was admitted and treated for the ascites. Discussed for transplant and refused, too early. Couple of months later put forward again and accepted. Whilst all this was going on he was being tested regularly with the blood test for HCC (AFP TEST) for cancer all negative. When transplanted end of year his liver was full of HCC Tumours. Had this have been discovered he would not have been a candidate for Transplant. Yet he is still here nearly 10 years on, so try not to worry too much.
Wow!!! Thank you for your reply and congratulations to your husband for 10 years with his new liver!!! How wonderful. It does give me hope. We were caught off guard with the news yesterday...which is never a fun position to be in. I slept horribly last night, my head kept spinning allllll of the possibilities 😫 We will learn more, in about a month! Crazy that they never realized the amount of tumors in your husbands liver. My husband’s AFP marker test is also normal. Gastro said that can happen. Sending you a big hug!!! And we’ll wishes for continued good health. ~Julie
Hi again
Thank you for those kind words.
Although liver is still fine, being admitted again 2morrow, had incisional hernia repair 3years after transplant.kept being admitted with sepsis. Waited 3 years because bile duct kept getting blocked and had to keep going for camera down to unblock .Think. Hernias due to mesh used for repair.so hernias back again. Swollen tummy.worried what they may find when they operate. Keeping fingers crossed no recurrence of HCC.
Sods law, he was due to see knee consultant at another hospital on day of this surgery.doesnt sleep with knee pain.
Its never ending!!!
