Hi I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice please since September last year when I found out that I have cirrhosis of the liver my life has really changed because I really don't want to go out of the house and my partner keeps asking me to go out with him but I won't and I really don't know why I don't want to go out. I will only go out if I have hospital appointments. Thanks sexy_1971

You HAVE to go out. You need fresh air and exercise. You are only 50, you can't spend the rest of your life sitting indoors waiting for your next hospital appointment.. that's no life is it? Your poor husband will soon get fed up. For goodness sake enjoy your life in the best ways you can ... you only live once, don't waste it, put some sunshine in your life 😎🌞

Quite often with various forms of liver disease, there can sometimes be a darker side behind the cause of the condition. This can be especially so when the cause of the condition is to a certain extent of our own making. Alcohol abuse, the risk of contaminated blood through dirt needles in recreational drug abuse, and backstreet tattoo artists.

However, your reasons for not going out are unclear. These might be quite personal and private, so, if you’d prefer to speak in private to someone then you can always PM them. To do this, just click on the person’s profile whom you wish to message, and there in the right-hand corner of the page, you’ll see a box marked, “Message”, just click on this to send a private message.

As Laura has said, you do need to go outside. For a start, your liver could most likely benefit from some vitamin D, and what better way to get this is from a little sunshine. (don’t go overdoing it though).

Life is certainly about living. I hope the point never arises where you require a liver transplant. But one of the criteria for going on the transplant waiting list is to improve your quality of life. Being cooped up all day is not healthy, for either mind or spirit. You only have to look around a zoo at all those caged animals to see how their spirit has become broken. Besides, everyone involved with that liver transplant option would want you to have a life. This would be from the donor right down to the nurse on the ward. They’d want for you to enjoy this gift and do something with your life.

So, if there was ever a case whereby there were two ladies who both required a liver transplant. Which one should be given the liver. The one who stays at home and who never goes out? Or the one whose ambition is to spend two weeks backpacking with Bear Grylls?

I happen to hate the phrase, “Bucket List” as it seems so final. But we all have things we’ve always wanted to do, if only we made the effort. Last year, for example, my wife had always wanted to go in a helicopter. So, I paid for her to go on a North Wales helicopter flying experience.

In two weeks I’m taking her down to Cornwall as she’s never been there before. What is more, you are fortunate. Not only do you have so much you could plan and make happen, but you are fortunate to have someone in your life to share all this with. After all, they are sharing in your liver cirrhosis journey. This is about you both. So, get out there girl and have some fun.

Best Wishes

Richard
