Hi:)Are you having any fever or other symptoms?i don’t know what is your diagnosis, but with PSC when you are having chills and fever it might be cholangitis attack.if it’s a new symptom and you are worried maybe it’s worth to reach your consultant?

just mention to your Dr.Good luck:)

Hello,

Feeling cold can potentiallybe associated with liver diseasebut if by chills you mean intermittent shivering which is what your post indicates then it could potentially be due to an infection. Are you able to check your temperature when it hapens, is this something new, has a doctor assessed you ?

I know it is a bank holiday weekend but it would be wise to get a medical opinion.

regards

I had the chills a couple of times in the first 6 months or so of my initial hospitalisation and it wasn't due to an infection. It was due to liver disease/cirrhosis. It's a side effect that you possibly might feel the cold a lot more than you would have done previously, and the same goes with hot weather also, in that you might find that you're not as keen on being in it for as long as you were before... But then again we don't all have the same side effects as one another anyway...

The short answer is yes! I have PSC which when active causes high temp and severe shivering. I control this with ab's + paracetomol. But I also feel cold all the time. Yesterday the temp in our garden reached 25deg and I was able for the first time this year to enjoy being outside in a T shirt. But I still felt chilly out of the sun.

I’m so sorry . I had no idea about all these liver diseases .

I’m waiting for mri results this week .

I had the gastroscopy and ct scan .

I feel so anxious has I’ve never drank , smoked never been over weight and kept fit . It’s the shock everybody feels I expect .

Could mri give me a deff diagnosis ?

I think it could, but might not. It depends. I know what a horrible answer that is, and I'm sorry.

Yes!! I have cirrhosis and I feel chills even in hot temperatures. Does anyone get itchy bumps on scalp when going out in the Sun??

I do, really bad.

My constant chills are due to low iron levels resulting from stomach bleeds and anemia. Talk it over with your doctor and ask them to check your iron if you feel fatigued as well.

Can I ask what your chills are like please? I’ve got no diagnosis as yet, still awaiting other tests, my body temperature on the whole is ok but I often get shivers and goosebumps that just last seconds but are quite frequent x

in reply to Spoons20

Yes course . I shiver and feel really cold even when it’s warm .

I get hot and cold it’s really weird .

What symptoms have you got ?

I’ve had gastroscopy , ct and waiting for mri .

All they said was I had liver disease but no cause yet .

I just need a diagnosis it’s making me so anxious x

in reply to JennerLayne

My bloods were ok . Just waiting for mri results this week .

Hi Hayleigh,

Your description is much like mine (shivers and goosebumps) but they last several minutes to hours. Often, I turn on a small space heater, wear extra layers such as wraps and ponchos, don gloves in the summertime, and sleep in socks and cover my head when sleeping. My co-workers often get a chuckle when they tell me the environment is not cold, and I am wrapped up like a burrito!

in reply to JennerLayne

I feel the same except the gloves in summer haha . What is your diagnosis please ?

Hi Kodiak,

My primary diagnoses include PBC/AIH overlap with cirrhosis, Systemic Sclerosis (Sine Scleroderma), GAVE Disease, and Anemia.

Here's a photo of a pair of work mittens which I wear year-round. I use the computer and phone a lot, so I need to be keep my fingers free!

Awesome gloves ! I’m waiting and hoping mri will beable to tell me but reading biopsies are the only way .

I’m wondering if that will be the next thing .

It’s all come a shock really I went for a gastroscopy for gastritis and it’s escalated from then .

What food do you eat ?

I am with cirrhosis and have a small appetite. In fact, I've had to encourage myself to eat tiny meals to prevent excessive weight loss and muscle wasting. I eat salmon and whitefish, lots of chicken and turkey, veggies and fruits. I typically have maybe 1-2 partial servings of red meat weekly. Doctors have suggested sticking to a Mediterranean style diet. I also start the day with a good bran cereal, yogurt, cheese or something dairy related. Plus, I incorporate these high protein shakes (brand is 'Orgain') on a daily basis. I stay away from salt, processed foods and most sweets though I still enjoy a nibble of dark chocolate daily. 😄
