As you know my husband had his transplant a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately he is still in ICU, his liver is apparently working well but he has been taking a lot of seizures and they can’t seem to determine the cause. They are changing his medication around and trying different things out. He was unresponsive to tests carried out this morning and naturally I’m very worried. Has anyone else been through this? Appreciate any advise you can give. I know everyone has problems and even though I am not posting to often I certainly am thinking of everyone.

So very sorry to hear you are having to cope with such an awful situation. I'm sure the Dr's will do all they can, a change in medications may well make a big difference. I hope you have support, do you have any relatives with you, or are you here alone?? Please please look after yourself, ask for help from the coordinators if you need it. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and hoping positive changes will soon come.
Hi Geraldine, It is my understanding that seizures are a fairly common post transplant event occurring in approximately 40% of patients. Keeping in mind that your dearheart is in the best possible hospital I have every confidence that they will sort out the balance of his meds and get him settled. See this as a challenge but picture clear skies and open roads ahead. We are all with you every step of this journey. I am so glad you were able to drop by and share your current status as we have been thinking of you daily and sending strength through prayer. Hang in there and like other supporters here have reminded you--take care to rest and eat as best you can.

Hi Geraldine. I’m sorry to hear your husband is suffering seizures. I don’t have any experience of this myself and I really do hope the doctors manage to get things sorted out as soon as possible. Thinking of you lots and hoping he gets better soon xxx

Hi Geraldine, I hope they can get to the bottom of these seizures - we have had other people post on here in the past who had seizures post transplant - some of these were put down to Tacrolimus/Prograf, another had a blockage owing to wrongly placed piping during a part of t/p op ( healthunlocked.com/britishl...... ).
Fingers crossed they get answers soon and get hubby on the road to a hard earned recovery.
I am sorry to hear of your Hubby's seizures, but as others have said it is not unknown post transplant, and I hope and pray that they can find and remedy the problem. Keeping everything crossed for a speedy resolution.🤞🤞🤞

Sorry to hear your husband is so unwell.
As all our lovely forum members have said, I am sure the team that are looking after him will be trying to get to the root of his problem. Ask them as many questions as you need to - they should be able to keep you up to date with your husbands management plan and care.
