Hi Sue,

Unfortunately no one on the forum is medically trained to be able to correctly advise you about your liver blood tests.

You may find our publication 'Liver disease tests explained' useful to read;

britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

Hopefully your GP can interpret your results and suggest any further appropriate medical investigations.

Best wishes.

Thank you for this . I wasn’t asking for a diagnosis I was wondering if anyone had experience of this

LFT's can fluctuate all the time, what doctors will want to do is establish whether there is a pattern to them or not.

Everyone has fluctuating LFT's so sharing our stories isn't going to help with yours. All sorts of things can cause blips in blood results from fighting a simple infection (like the cold), getting bloods taken after a strenous physical workout to the whole gambit of liver conditions, gall bladder conditions and more.

As Trust admin points out sadly no one here is going to be able to help decipher what is going on with yours and it's up to doctors to interpret and carry out follow up.

Hope your doctor clarifies things for you soon.

Thank you for your responses . What I was more interested in could a raised CRP and ALP be an indication of rheumatoid arthritis rather than bile duct obstruction as my doctor suspects as my ALT is decreasing .

Elevated CRP levels can have many causes, from a medical condition that results in inflammation to a virus or infection. Consistently high levels are usually investigated further. With regard to RA, a blood test for RA factor is the only way of diagnosing this condition, possibly in conjunction with ANA tests, too. LFT results are unlikely to have any bearing on this.

Thank you for your response . My doctor has said my CRP levels have been around the same level for many years ..Why nothing was mentioned I do know know . He’s now trying to rule out a bile duct obstruction. I had my Gallbladder removed in 2015 and had stones in my bile duct I had a stent put in. Had an ercp after the operation to check all stones had gone . They discovered my stent had gone ... so I’d passed it. So that’s what they are leaning towards now . A bile duct obstruction. Just hoping it wasn’t damaged during my Ercp I had. I had no bile duct dilation on my ultrasound and my liver seemed normal .. so it’s a mystery !? I did ask about bile duct cancer but he felt that due to my bilirubin being normal and I’ve not turned yellow he can’t rule it out though. I’m just constantly googling to try and find out. My ALP is the same level but my ALT is decreasing
