These are the various articles released by British Liver Trust regarding the various studies about the health benefits of coffee and the liver britishlivertrust.org.uk/?s....

Certainly we were told by liver specialist dietician that it's not the caffeine that provides the benefit (so decaf is good enough) and neither does it need to be a particularly good coffee.

I asked my doc the same question and like AyrshireK said, the caffeine is not what makes coffee so good for your liver but the antioxidants in the beans. I would try and find good quality coffee, caf or decaf, preferably whole bean and grind it yourself. It can turn into a great hobby while helping your liver out! I drink one double shot espresso in the morning and in the evening I pour over some decaf 🙂

The administrator on the fatty liver / Nash board is a wealth of knowledge and has improved his condition GREATLY. He also says that it’s best to use paper filters, there are 2 chemicals in coffee that are hard on the liver (even organic) So, espresso regularly wouldn’t be ideal.
