This might be a silly question. Once a person with a fatty liver stops drinking, begins eating right, etc., where does the fat go as healing progresses? How does it get out of your liver and out of your body? Does it come out in stool?
What happens to the fat?: This might be... - British Liver Trust
What happens to the fat?
Only a guess here, but pretty sure it would be used as fuel.
I find that Dr John Campbell explains in his videos a clear understanding of the liver and what it does.
In his series of videos, video 3 entitled "Liver Function 3, Carbohydrate storage and metabolism" may be of interest: youtu.be/eGnTcDeu_RY
Where as video four in the series deals with Fat metabolism, which once again might be of interest: youtu.be/qIeS9SdjEmI
All these liver related videos are very informative. I hope this helps.
Good Luck

Hi MrsN1976 - great question! I can see that Richard has also posted some useful links. Once the liver starts to repair itself, it is able to metabolise or 'get rid' of some of the fat. It is used as fuel, or stored for future use or leaves the body through your stool or other means.
Thank you!
Think mine left my liver and settled on my bum.
