Ggt 155
Ggt is an inflammatory marker and suggests inflammation somewhere in the body, not necessarily in the liver (although there must be a reason why they have done liver tests)- it could be an indication of a blockage in the bile ducts for instance.
However, if you look at labtest online uk (they are reliable) they can explain some of the reasons for the increase. Really only your Dr can identify what has caused the increase, so best to go back to them and ask for an explanation. Most likely they will repeat blood tests to see if it is a continuing trend.
As for how to lower it, this will depend on the cause, but if liver related, you alone will not be able to lower it as far as I know. Mine has been raised recently due to gallbladder issues, but my other bloods were off too, so this is not necessarily the cause of your increase & I could not affect myself. Good luck.
If you look, someone else has also posted about raised Ggt. You might find their replies useful.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes mine have been consistently high for about 10 years
Hello Vicky. I am on the same page kind of. My GGT went high from 47 to 124 in a month after the gallblader removal. ALT and ALP are high too. ALT is almost doubled. I have had pain on the right and left and middle of my stomach. MRI didn't show anything bad but I am in pain constantly.... doing other tests now - fibroscan and CT. I am sick and tired and I feel something bilary related. But it is my guess. I bugged even my surgeon... so other tests are coming. How are you feeling?
