Hello, I already posted but was asked to give more info.
I am having trouble with my liver producing enough bile for digestion (stools are very fatty), as well as producing thick phlegm afte/during a meal. I am plant based vegan, exercise often, but also have skin issues and lots of mucus in my nose everyday. I have seen a doctor and my liver function test came back normal, although white blood cell count was a little low. No pain in my liver, I don't smoke or drink very often. 32 years of age. I did have giardia a few years ago which took some heavy antibiotics to get rid of. Anyone have any ideas?
I am also looking for a member called x_b_x who seemed to have the same phlegm issue as my. I messaged them but no response as of yet.

Your pancreas sends enzymes into the intestines to break down sugars and fats. You don't have any abdominal or back pain do you? Might have a little inflammation or something. Bring it up with your GP. Best wishes :).
Thanks for the reply. No I don't have any pain in my ab or back area. I thought it was the liver that releases bile to break down fats during digestion? My GP is pretty useless, that's what I have reached out for help here. Maybe it's my pancreas causing troubles and not my liver?
Maybe it's not trouble at all. If your stool only sort of looks oily or there's a film in the water, it could simply be diet. Eating a lot of nuts or other high omega-3 foods can cause that. Something about the amount of time that particular lipid takes to break down. Steatorrhea (oily stool), to my knowledge, literally looks like you've dumped olive oil in the toilet. If it does, get to your GP asap. If not, change your diet up a bit and see if that resolves the issue.
Thanks, I have been taking some digestive enzymes to help with the breaking down of and they have helped. Which makes me wonder what is the root cause. I am also worried about the phlegm that comes up everytime I eat.
I can only tell you that while bile is produced by the liver, it is stored in the gallbladder, unless this has been removed. If this is the case, then you get a continuous drip of bile. With a gallbladder, when you eat food containing fat, the gallbladder " squirts" an amount of bile out to help break down the fatty food. As to finding the root cause, it might be a good idea to keep a food diary & then write down when you have these different reactions to help rule out/ in certain foods. Good luck
