Hi I have a non alcoholic enlarged , fatty liver but after after having a fibroscan thankfully there is no scarring etc. But I have been having problems with my stomach , nausea, bubbling , bloating etc so the doctor has prescribed Lansoprazole but it says it can affect the liver if you already have problems . So obviously I don't want to make my liver worse so not sure if it's safe . Has anyone any experience of this medicine in context to the liver .Thank you

Hi buttercup99I have been taking lanzoprazole for a while now, prescribed by my consultant, he would not have me take it if there was an issue. In saying that if you have reservations, speak to your doctor.
Hi, I have cirrhosis, enlarged spleen and portal hypertension, I was put on lansoprazole when I was fifteen after being admitted for a bleed and I think it was because my stomach lining at the time was inflamed and I’ve been on it ever since and I’m 21 now and I haven’t really had any problems or worsening of the liver issues, only thing I have is heartburn which I think may be caused by this or the propranolol which I’ll discuss with my consultant next week when I see him but in terms of worsening my condition it hasn’t and my liver has been stable since being on it, hope this helps x
Lansoprazole is great at preventing acid reflux. It’s only a problem if you take it over prolonged periods of time or if you have serious liver problems.
Like you I have nafld but at my fibroscan unfortunately I was diagnosed with cirrhosis. I have been taking lansoprazole for many years and I have not been told to stop it. They did stop one of my other medications.
