You shouldn't take any vitamins or minerals without a doctor doing blood tests and telling you that you actually need them. It is always best to get all vitamins/minerals through your food without taking additional supplements - it is possible to do loads of damage to yourself by taking an excess of vitamins/minerals if you are not actually deficient in them.

Blood tests would be needed to identify any deficiencies and anything you may need to top up.

As Katie said, please don’t take anything without checking with your doctor. As an example, I broke my humerus and I read that vitamin D and Calcium were good at helping the bones heal. I started taking them and then I went to my usual check up for my liver and for the first time ever my doctor phoned me and said whatever you are taking, stop it, you have toxic levels of vitamin D in your body. Injust thought they were vitamins and they wouldn’t harm, I was very wrong.

You should ask your doctor. I had blood tests and they found my vitamin D level was deficient so my doctor told me to take it. I wouldn't advise taking anything without being told to take it by a doctor.

Not what you're looking for?
