Cirrhosis support

Hi guys I have an inherited condition called Alpha1 antitrypsin deficiency which causes liver and lung disease. I had a consultant app today and although my Alpha1 doesn’t help matters he said I have cirrhosis of the liver possibly due to mostly fatty liver. I’m devastated and wasn’t expecting it. I know I probably can’t reverse the damage but can I improve my liver functioning. Thanks just need a little support I’m so worried 😞

How healthy is your diet? Speak to a liver dietician specialist about the foods you should and shouldnt be eating to reduce the fat in your liver with your condition. Good luck

My diet has been ok for a number of years just in shock as did not expect this but ye a referral has been made to the dietitian

I have aatd too, please stop drinking if you drink asap. The liver can heal with alpha's too I have both liver and lung disease my lungs are more affected, I am up for assessment for double lung transplant if I decide to go ahead..I stopped drinking and smoking 14 yrs ago ..it made sense and kept me alive..good luck if you need info usually around.

Thank you for your reply. I have given up alcohol 5 months ago when I learned of my liver disease and I don’t miss it so that will be easy I just need to lose weight exercise and eat better now 😃
