MRi scan, cystadenoma and covid.

I have an MRI scan booked for next Tuesday 19, and the covid pandemic is getting worse.l am worried about catching covid in the hospital, l have researched that the room should be left free for one hour between patients, but in my hospital it will be 10 minutes. I have a cystadenoma, which needs checking, having found that it has grown to 8 cm on a recent ultrasound. The specialist who has seen the scan, classes it as non urgent, but the uncertainty is worrying. I and husband are over 70, we don't want covid! Should I defer for a few months.

Please do not defer your appointment, as it may be a very long time before you get offered another. Since the first lockdown my partner has had numerous tests, ultrasounds, a PET scan, CT and MRI scans, a liver biopsy, a gastroscopy, and face-to-face hospital appointments. I have had just an ultrasound. All these tests were necessary, and done in extremely clean and safe surroundings. Appointments are arranged so that there are few people in the waiting areas. All in all, much safer than going for a local walk or visiting a supermarket!

I second what Partner20 has said, please don’t defer your appointment. It is imperative that routine appointments continue, hospitals have incredibly strict covid rules and I’m sure if they thought it wasn’t at all urgent they would have given you an appointment later in the year.
