I've recently had some right upper quadrant pain after years of alcohol abuse. Asked the Doc about it. He poked around "this hurt?" "no." "now?" "nope." Kind of thing. Was mostly a dull ache. Alarming enough to make me quit alcohol, fix up my diet, and schedule an ultrasound. Little over two weeks later and the dull ache is gone. I have had slight dizzy spells and mood swings. Alcohol withdraw symptoms maybe. Or maybe it's a vitamin deficiency since my diet has been abruptly overhauled. Only lean meat and cruciferous veggies and very little if any salt until I can get in for my ultrasound. I had been having frequent headaches as well which have seemed to stop thankfully. I still have terribly stressed/bloodshot eyes with slight discoloration. Dr. looked at them and said nothing though.
Anyone experience anything like this? Am I on the long path to recovery?

Hello Yarkis,
The fact that your pain has disappeared is definitely a good thing.
For long term liver health, regardless of initial cause, limiting alcohol intake and eating a good nutritious diet and taking exercise is very useful.
I hope you have your Ultrasound soon and perhaps some blood tests for assessment.
I have included links to information abou talcohol and liver disease and liver dsease tests.
Get liver function tests done by gp soonest. Buy blood pressure monitor and take and record blood pressure during dizzy spells. Eat full range of nutrients including carbs. Drink lots water. Good pain has gone but get liver checked if eyes even marginally yellow. No salt and only cruciferous veg seems unusual. You might be dehydrated hence dizzy spells. A healthy diet will aid liver regeneration or cleanse not a fad diet. Good luck.
Appreciate the reply yorky. I had two LFTs done by two different facilities. Both came back normal. Total biliburin at .4 from the first and .3 from the second. I don't think jaundice can present at levels that low. The lean meat/cruciferous veg and low salt diet is an attempt to both lower blood lipids and increase antioxidants at the same time. Trying to be kind to my liver since stopping drinking. I had an ultrasound done and got my results today. Not even fatty liver. Normal as far as myself and the radiologist can tell. I'm bewildered to say the least. Dizzy spells have stopped. I think it was anxiety in combination with a diet overhaul.
