I’ve just been diagnosed with cavernous hemangioma and told it’s benign and to rescan in six months. Has anyone been diagnosed with this and it really turned out to be something more serious? Trying to decide if I should seek a second opinion.

cavernous hemangioma - anyone diagnosed and it was something else?
A cavernous liver hemangioma or hepatic hemangioma is a benign tumor of the liver composed of hepatic endothelial cells. It is the most common benign liver tumour, and is usually asymptomatic and diagnosed incidentally on radiological imaging.
My hubby has several haemangioma and they are absolutely benign. As he also has cirrhosis they are just monitored during his 6 monthly ultrasound scans which he has as part of his routine cirrhosis monitoring.
The BLT has a page dedicated to haemangioma and other benign liver growths. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

Hi, yes I have and i too have to have another scan. I was told 4 months ago though and haven’t heard re the next follow up scan yet. The way things are I’ll likely end up chasing them for the scan!
Yes I have this. My doctor said its basically like a strawberry birth mark on the liver comprised of a tangle of blood vessels. Benign but if really large or multiple they can use target radiation to make them shrink and disappear. They are usually harmless but show up on ultrasound. Usually congenital.
