I was experiencing dizziness and went to my GP. I had bloods taken and I have high ferritin levels and a raised b12. I am vegan and do take b12 supplements and a lot of my food is fortified. I was (up until September) also quite a heavy drinker. 3-4 bottles of red wine a week. I’m speaking to my Dr Thursday but I’m honestly worried about my liver health. I have no physical symptoms of liver damage other than the original dizzy spells.
I guess My question is will I need further blood tests and diagnostics such as a Liver Ultrasound? If I do have liver damage what is the prognosis and how to I manage it?

If you have concerns about your liver health it is important to discuss them further with your GP who may arrange for a full liver screen - this is blood tests including looking for viruses and immune conditions, clinical examination , history taking and imaging - usually in the form of an ultrasound scan.
I have included a link to liver disease tests explained information
May I suggest, in the meantime, you eliminate alcohol, have a healthy, nutritious diet and exercise - these are all beneficial for long term liver health.
Thank you for your reply. Yes I have eliminated alcohol, I’m vegan anyway so eat a plant based diet and I’ve just started exercise again. I’ll check out the links so I can mention them to my GP.
Hi witchybizz. To avoid getting liver damage or to allow your liver to recover from any minor damage it may have, you will need to give up the booze. It is poison to your liver.
While talking with your doctor make sure you are getting all the nutients your body needs to be healthy. You may need some prescribed suppliments which your diet is lacking.
