I was diagnosed with Nash about two and a half years ago. I had no idea that I had cirrhosis until it was discovered that I was severely endemic and the dermatologist ordered an abdominal scan. My lft, shave always been virtually normal. I was due to have a spectroscopy last December but didn't get an appointment till March which was obviously cancelled because of covid. In May at my yearly diabetes check I was once again found to be extremely anaemic. My go write to the liver team asking for an urgent spectroscopy but after waiting for about 10 weeks I contacted the outpatients appointment office only to be told that they didn't have me down as urgent. I asked if urgent was when you are vomiting blood and the advisor said pretty much yes! My go write again and I was still waiting for an appointment at the end of August when I started with Malena (black blood) I was admitted into the hospital and given two transfusions and then taken for the gastroscopy. They found two bleeding ulcers which they treated. I was in hospital for three days. Almost 3weeks later the same thing happened, admitted, gastroscopy , 2 iron infusions 3
days in hospital and sent home with more heavy duty meds. Three weeks later more of the same, 4 days in hospital and an appointment for another gastroscopy in a week with plans to treat the bleeding areas with argon beam as a day case. They couldn't stop the bleeding so I was admitted yet again with another gastroscopy and argon treatment with 3 consultants in attendance planned for the next day with three time slots booked. They were concerned that 5 gastroscopies in 7 weeks wasn't ideal. I was in hospital for 5 days this time. I had been hooked up to a 72 hour PPI this time which was a nuisance apart from anything else. I was discharged from the hospital and there was an appointment letter for me to have another gastroscopy on 24th of this month. I also an booked for an abdo scan in two weeks. I am so SIck of this disease.
Sorry for such a long, boring post but I just needed to tell someone who knows what cirrhosis does to your life and how much it takes away.
