Checking back in

After some relapses I finally broke down and got some real counciling and help with alcohol with AA. Like before I was scared at the damage I had done to my liver, I had some elevated enzymes again and some other bloods off. Finally I couldn’t take the worry and got a CT scan and an ultrasound. Both came back clear.

This won’t be an excuse to drink again. I know I have some fat and fibrosis even so, so it’s time to baby this thing and let it recover the most it can. Somehow it gave me a second chance even though I didn’t deserve it.

Sounds like quite the stressful time of late, but thankfully there’s no damage done. You’ve made a big effort, so you certainly do deserve the second chance you’ve been given.

I quit nearly two years ago, and it’s definitely an ongoing task at times to stay quit. Saying that, it gets easier with time and life gets way better.

Give yourself a lot of credit for the work you’ve done. Well done for stopping before anything serious developed.

Well done. The hard part for me is 6 months+. At least I know it’s a risk for me now. Hopefully two years for me soon too.

Sometimes only an addict gets it. When people just say, “don’t drink”, they mean well but can’t understand.

After you’ve quit for a few weeks or months and see the benefits, not only do you get out of the habit of drinking, but you also take sobriety deadly seriously. The withdrawal process is unpleasant, and it’s far easier not to go through all that again.
