Good morning team. I hope everyone is coping OK during these troubled times.
I’m sure many, like me are on a knife edge if you consider your immune system to be a bit dodgy or your overall health not being tip top but proving we are careful and pragmatic we should be OK.
My sister is front line NHS and works in A&E, some of the things we talk about are beyond scary. I have a chap who works for me has a wife who works in critical care and she has been sent home with some signs she might have been exposed.
I’m doing OK, mildly annoyed that my outpatient appointments have been cancelled as this was looking like my last session to get bands.
I’m more annoyed that our holiday isn’t going ahead and Virgin Atlantic dragging their heels deciding on what they will do following flight cancellations; I’ve read that they are on the brink so I think more about the many jobs that may be about to disappear overnight.
I’m 60 days or so away from being off the booze for a full year, so that’s something.
Anyway. Like I said I hope everyone is OK. I’ve read some recent posts and I know that you are going through a torrid time either with your own health or that of someone you care for.
If anyone needs a chat I’m happy to offer some advice based on my own recovery and I know the trust themselves are a fantastic resource. The point being you don’t have to do any of this alone.
Peace!

Virgin on the ridiculous. I'm waiting on Jet2 ringing with my options, but I'm refusing a credit voucher. I want me money back. We are all getting it tight, charity must begin at home!?
I've heard that airlines and tour operators are trying to fob people off with vouchers. You are entitled to a cash refund. It may take a while, but you will get it.
Congratulations on your continued sobriety ✌️.
I haven't felt brilliant. I'm back on t/p list after several bad episodes of HE.
Your friends and family are the people who will know. I certainly wouldn't accept there was anything wrong. On a couple of occasions I refused to get into an ambulance. HE causes slurred speech, personality changes, inability to perform everyday tasks, to name a few. On one occasion, I had to ask an a&e nurse how my glasses worked!! 🤯
I've just come across your message of yesterday and I'm sorry to read that you,'ve been having a few HE episodes causing you concerns. Hopefully you wont have to wait to long on the top list!
If possible try and relax and enjoy the remainder of your Easter Monday
Thanks honey. Yes, they started mildly at Christmas, then I seemed to be better, then 3 admissions in 2 weeks. Funnily we were talking about it yesterday, as I have either vague or no recollection of my behaviour. It's a very strange feeling as I do like to be in control.
Hope you're having good weather. It's a bit chilly, but sunny.
Oh my Matty, you must be feeling so concerned with not knowing when the next episode may happen!
Weather here is currently sunny but cold in open space areas so most of today has spent inside pottering about , however I did manage to grab an hour of vitamin D first thing!'
Am having the same issue with Virgin holidays. Waiting to claim via section 75 of credit card. If flight cancel, merchant is liable to refund up to £30k. Fingers crossed.
I've just come off the phone to Virgin Atlantic after a 90minite wait but they processed a refund with no questions asked. Of course they need to stay in business long enough to fulfil their promises.
Wow. You are very patient to wait 90 minutes!! Please keep us posted. My flight is not cancelled for now (end of May) so no refund yet. When the time comes, i hope i don't have to wait 90 minutes
I guarantee you will wait at least that for your departure date as virgin start actively contacting customers or replying to web queries. They only have a very limited amount of people who are working from home and they are taking inbound, doing outbound and taking texts and emails.
I got lucky, I read somewhere else that they waited nearly three hours.
And when you eventually get through you will be given the hard sell to keep your ticket open. Best advice is to cut to the point immediately and let them know your intentions.
You will then probably wait 90 days for your money.
Now, with all this in mind we have to hope that they actually stay in business and don't fold overnight if Boeing, Heathrow and others campaign for billions falls through.
The UK will only bail out one airline in my opinion and that will be BA. Cos monarchy.
Saying that, it’s in some ways a good time to quit (there’s never a bad time). If someone’s not working, the inevitable lack of sleep from alcohol withdrawal is no issue. I’d also be extremely wary, for obvious reasons, of popping to the shop for yet another 4 cans. It’d be nice to think some might use these unusual times to quit booze.
Well done on your long abstinence. 👍. Sorry to hear about your problems with holiday cancellation refund issues. That’s just what you don’t need when there’s stress enough around us without such things 🙁. I’m sure, one way or another, it will work out OK for you in the end - well, I mean 🤞🤞 that it does!!
As you say, we are all hunkering down trying to make the most of this shielding issuette. . Gosh just wish I could go for a drive! Speaking of driving how is that car of yours - that piccie of your disassembled dashboard is engraved in my memory forever!! Think it brought back too many times when I was tearing my hair out trying to fix my own cars. Don’t know why but car wiring is totally infuriating. Well it was in those days - it’s all bus driven now so should in theory be easier. Haha that’s a joke with electronicy components failing all round the ring circuit! Haha such fun - not!
Thanks miles. Car is doing well. Well almost, I had to replace both rear brake calipers at inflated costs just before the lockdown. This will be the longest it has ever had a full tank of fuel in its life I'm sure. I might be responsible for much of the reduction in pollution in the Glasgow area!
