Hi There, my Mum has just been diagnosed with Cirrhosis. I'm wanting to understand more about it as the Drs at Hospital haven't communicated with us well at all. She was recently rushed in and they never treated her. Im getting upset and frustrated and she is not improving. Will she be like this for the foreseeable or will she improve

Mum Diagnosed with Cirrhosis
Sorry to hear about your mum's new diagnosis and hospitalisation - no doubt it's particularly difficult with the covid situation and being unable to go into hospital to see clinicians face to face.
The British Liver Trust website has an excellent page on cirrhosis which might provide you with some background to educate yourself a little about the condition, there is also a fantastic page called the patient charter which details the care a patient with cirrhosis should receive and questions you should ask.

If you are in the UK, the hospital your mum is in should have a PALS Team - Patients Advice and Liaison Service who should be able to ensure you are involved in mum's care even from home and the hospital's website should detail that.
What is the cause of mum's liver disease? What symptoms have taken her into hospital? and how do you know no treatment is in place ........... I would be very surprised if the latter was infact the case.
As regards the future it depends on the cause of mum's ill health and the current severity of her condition, it is possible for a patient to stabilize but it depends on the possible medical intervention.

Sorry, She has had treatment from when she was initially admitted to hospital. it was last week when she was admitted again, they didn't treat her and was sent home after 2 days. which is fine, but as a family we don't appreciate the stress and upset. This is a stressful time at the moment. She has been suffering a while with tummy problems and this has since got worse due to some personal family issue. My mums appetite deteriorated and then the jaundice came. She contact the doctor and was admitted to hospital after results from blood tests showed low potassium levels. Her tummy is very very swollen, her appetite is none existent, she is incontinent due to the lactulose. Ive not seen any improvement in her other then she has got worse then before her diagnosis.
I'm sorry that both your mother and you have not been getting the answers and support you both need. Do you happen the know the cause of your mother's cirrhosis?
This will enable others on here to better understand and be able to advise you better.
