What could cause this?? I've changed my diet and lost 9lb in this week aswell! My GGT has come back as 36
ALT jumped from 74 to 128 in 1 week!! - British Liver Trust
ALT jumped from 74 to 128 in 1 week!!
It is very common for ALT to rise in the immediate weeks following weight loss though it should normalize soon (hence the 'transient' mentioned in this passage - from another website).
"Weight loss was shown to be associated with improvements in liver enzymes and improvements of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. However, some evidence also shows that liver enzymes may transiently increase immediately after a dietary-induced weight loss."
Thank you for this! I guess I'll just have my bloods repeated again. Another thing, after the first test I started Statins and Beta Blockers and I assume this may have had an affect aswell possibly!
hi as Ayrshire says-rapid weight loss can affect your enzymes...9 pounds in a week is a bit extreme. Often this affects GGT but yours are OK -Statins also a factor. Well done on weight loss though-take it easy.....
I'm not doing extreme dieting just started following slimming world so still having 3 good meals a day just choosing healthy options! I think alot of it may have been water weight! Lost 5.5lb this week aswel!
Slimming world is good but I was slightly put off as they seem to use a lot of artificial sweeteners and quark (which is fermented) which I tend to avoid! Just my thoughts👍
