Alt 78 ast 45
Hello is any one out there to help me
sorry buddy. We are all hypochondriacs when it comes with getting results. I cannot advise you on your readings either, but if you say that these are normal do not give any room to worry in your life until ultrasound, which is just double certainty you are alright.
There will be some on here like Katy or the nurses who will explain what your ranges are for tests. take care.
Good morning Moguz1182,
Unfortunately individual blood tests on their own do not necessarily give a diagnosis. It is important to have a full liver screen which includes blood tests, imaging tests e.g Ultrasound scan and clinical assessment which includes physical examination and history taking.
I have included a link to liver disease tests explained.

Take care,

hi were these tests done as a routine screening because ast is not normally done unless there's a specific reason...any symptoms? and drinking history? also weight age are all factors
Yeah sory am a bit overweight and 38 years old sysmpton is my left side of the tummy is hurting like the pain is always there doctor done the normal blood test than further liver function test results are as I sad alt78 ast 45 rest are all fine now go refer to Abdominal ultrasound
Hi Moguz,
It can be common for liver tests to show as derranged for some reason or another as they are quite sensitive to anything that can upset the liver a bit. Many things can do that, but lots are nothing to be overly concerned about as they can be quite short term and leave no lasting damage.
Usual protocol would be for your doc to do another test in a few weeks to see if anything has changed, but its good they are doing a scan for you too as part of further testing. Once again dont take the need for a scan as being anything too sinister either. Its just to help get a better picture to help diagnosis.
Good luck
Ultrasound results fatty liver
Fab, great that you've got a diagnosis. They can now sort out the best course of action for you. There's some good info on the trust website about fatty liver but I'm sure your doc will go through things with you in a bit more detail so it doesnt become too problematic over the long term. They'll probably suggest a few lifestyle adjustments initially and then just keep an eye on you.
Hope all goes well.
Thanks For your replay Kristian I get a bit worried but I’m ok with it after your comment hope nothing will show on my scan
Hi Moguz, don’t worry too much as my last test showed an ast level of 154. My doc doesn’t seem worried about it........even though I am a bit.
