My husband was diagnosed with cirrhosis in June and now has a Child-Pugh score of B9, I would like to know other people's experiences of this scoring. How worried should I be?

Husband with Child-Pugh score of B9
Top end of B
Class B is 7 to 9 points and indicates moderately severe liver disease
one- to five-year survival rate: 75%
Don't get hung up on scores and so called survival rates - only doctors need to know those, you need to work together and live life.
At this stage it is all about managing the side effect symptoms that having cirrhosis can bring. Hopefully the cause of your hubbies liver disease has been identified and that has been tackled .
My hubby has never been told his stage or Child Pugh score. He was diagnosed in April 2012 with decompensated cirrhosis after a massive variceal bleed, he underwent treatment of these and various other things along the way, was listed for transplant but became well enough to be delisted after 10 months and now 8 years down the line still plodding along, ok not living a full life as he might have wanted but living the best life he can.
We have currently escaped from shielding for a few days away in our caravan and have our rucksacks at the ready to go off and do a nice walk together.
Hopefully your hubby is under a specialist and is going to receive the necessary monitoring and care. Have a read at the BLT page and publication on cirrhosis and the one on the patient charter to make sure you're prepared for future clinic appointments.

We keep a notebook and in it for each appointment we record current medications, any symptoms and all questions we want to ask and I then record all the answers.
Best wishes
