Nose bleeds do occur if you have cirrhosis. Whether they are painful or not l have no idea. Nose bleeds can occur for any number of reasons though. Have you been diagnosed with cirrhosis?

No but had a bad cold six months ago pain in left nostril and then blood started dripping. Had hep c back in 2007 got treated viruse gone only had ct scans with contrast during years all of them keep showing liver appears normal. I just worry I have cirrhosis and they didn’t see it. Other than that one bad cold with nosebleed six months ago. Nothing else happened. I lost insurance haven’t been to doctor in few years that’s why I wonder.

If you had cirrhosis it would have been detected if you have seen your doctor and been referred for scans. Nose bleeds 6 months apart certainly isn't a sign of cirrhosis, far more likely to be a burst blood vessel caused by nose blowing while you had your colds... perfectly normal !

Calm down. Worry and stress will only bring on other illness. Get out and get exercising .. it's the best stress buster

It wasn't for me, no.

Hi Chris,

Bleeding from the nose can happen for different reasons so therefore may be painful for some and not others.

If you have cirrhosis and are bleeding from your nose we would suggest that you see a doctor for assessment and examination.

Best wishes.

I got a question I found one of my test results. It shows ast 21 in normal range. And ast 16 also in normal range. My alt/ast ratio is 2.0. With cut off at 2.2. Does that mean cirrhosis. I read that ratio only means something if ast is out of range.
