After reading multiple posts on the forum I guess il make one of my own. I been diagnosed with fatty liver disease. I've been drinking quite heavily for multiple years on and off now i'm sober for about 2 months and tend to keep it that way. My symptoms started with ruq pain and pale stool after a night of heavy drinking.
Went to the doctor a few days later and he drew blood Wich came back fine except for a minor decrease in rbc. The pain continued and I also had bad acid reflux so he send me off to do a ultrasound wich showed no issues. Anxiety kicked in when I got some broken capillaries on the bridge of my nose. I dramatically changed my diet and drank lots of water, in fact I overdid it on the water part. I drank way to much water and had excruciating headaches and nausea that night, wich all dissapeared when I cut back on the water. I noticed that when I was drinking so much water my leg muscles started to ache and I thought I had peed out so much electrolytes and that's why I had minor leg pain. In the mean time I had a CT scan done with contrast fluid and that's where they told me I had a fatty liver. The doctor told me that he would order a endoscopy to see why I was having ruq pain and another blood test. The endoscopy showed I had chronic stomach inflammation wich was not active and the blood test was all good. Now to this day I saw 3 different gp's and a gastro doc and they all tell me it's all fine. My stool is back to normal but I still feel ruq pain occasionally and the pain in my legs is also still there, it doesnt hurt but it's freaking me out since I've been taking promagnor every day with no success. Does anyone have the same pain in there legs with a fatty liver?
You may want to discuss fibrosis ( stiffening/scarring) testing if you have a fatty liver- this can be a FibroScan or specific fibrosis blood tests.
We would suggest to discuss your painful legs or any other symptoms with your GP.

Hello trust1
I feel like I depleted all my options, I pushed for a fibroscan but they say it is for sever cases. Also told my doctor about my legs and he gave me promagnor, told a second doctor and she said the same. It's quite frustrating, i'm trying to get in contact with a hepatologist but the wait list is really long, probably around September.
I really have to fight for a diagnosis and it's like no one really cares about finding the cause of this.

I wish I could call but i'm not located in the UK so that is not an option for me I gues?
Hopefully I can go to the hepatologist asap. Since now I start to worry again, could they have missed chirrosis on all those tests?

So sorry Burt yes we are UK based nurses on the helpline. A CT is a very detailed scan if they thought you had cirrhosis they would usually report on that, however please do discus your concerns with your doctors. Good luck with your hepatologist appt.
