My husband has early compensated cirrhosis due to fatty liver/Nash. His last two ultrasounds (6 months apart) aren’t showing much fat on his liver now. He has lost about 30-35 pounds over the year by eating healthier. Does fat just disappear from the liver once you have cirrhosis or is it from his weight loss? Also, is this a good thing?

compensated cirrhosis and fat on liver??
It does disappear especially if you cut down the amount of saturated fat that's the main problem with foods especially ready meals and junk food... sounds like he is on the right track and it can be reversed fatty liver, keep up the good work 👍 x
Sorry to hear about your husband. I'm sure is weight loss will help with the fatty liver. However once the liver is scarred with cirrosis, then it can't ever mend the scarring.
Howevr due to his lifestyle changes, this should really help in preventing further damage, and with monitoring he would probably never go on to decompensated cirrosis.
I hope this helps
Good afternoon Todoheart,
Congratulations on the positive lifestyle changes your husband has made! Losing some weight, if overweight, is definitely a good thing for long term liver health.
I have included a link to NAFLD publication for further information.
