Covid-19 Diagnosis

Absolutely heart broken. Our son has just tested positive for Covid-19. He had to have contracted it, in Milton Kenes Hospital and hes only been at Addenbrookes, 2 days. I'm scared out of my mind, as is he. Sobbing my heart out x

Oh no, if it's not one thing it's another - really sorry to hear that, he's in the right place at least and has been tested - hopefully they can keep it out of his lungs or with minimum severity as possible.

It's scary times, I have developed a set of weird symptoms since my last supermarket visit but obviously can't get tested which is a worry when living with someone in the most vulnerable bracket.

Thoughts with you, Katie x

Just don't know how much more, he can cope with. Or us. He's a fighter tho, but so weak

I do hope that you are ok I don’t know what I’d do if the wife went down with it in fact she has just handed in her notice to a job she has been at for 15 years because the other people are not social distancing at work or taking the cleaning side seriously. So all the best and good luck to you.

We are lucky we are both 65 the wife will be 66 in December me next February ( I’m her toy boy 😂) and like most people our age we have been through some very lean times and we will get through this one, maybe we won’t buy the grandchildren so many toys 🤔. No I don’t think that will happened do you 🤣.

Well I hope you have good news soon you and your family deserve some.

Our thoughts are with you

Hi Buttonmadnanna

I don't know if this will relieve your stress a little, my uncle who's 86 went into hospital about a month ago with none covid medical issue's, lung and brain issues after a nasty fall. Like your son he caught Covid whilst in hosoital and was isolated from the other patients! He returned home yesterday👍😊

As your son's young but I do understand he's not well, my comforting advice to you is to keep thinking positive thoughts that he's going to fully recover as he's in excellent hands! In the meantime my fingers will be truly crossed until he returns home to you and his family!

Please take care of yourself in the meantime as you need your strength too!

Love to you both ! Trish xxx

Thank you Trish, thank god your Uncle made it home. Breaking us hearing him cry. I'm sobbing x

I’m sorry to hear this...

Try to think positive thoughts. The media have done an excellent job in scare mongering everyone into thinking of you get it - you die.

They only report the deaths but they aren’t reporting the people that survive. Like that 106 year old woman who beat it. Also a 86 year old with lung cancer who also beat it. Idris Elba, who has strong asthma, didn’t show any symptoms whatsoever and beat it.

Last, but not least, my Dad. No one on this forum knows that my Dad actually beat Covid around 2 weeks ago. He doesn’t live with us, but he was admitted to hospital with trouble breathing. He was showing the usual symptoms (fever, coughing etc) for over a week before getting taken to hospital where he recovered after 2 days. My Dad is a 56 year old HEAVY smoker and drinker with a hole in the heart and a heart aneurysm.

Stay positive, being diagnosed isn’t automatically a death sentence. I wish you and your family all the best.

in reply toUplight99

Thank you. Yes the media stories are so scary, but I know thousands more survive it. Thank god your dad beat it, bless him. Along with all the others x

Funny enough, I’m an electrician and my company are the ones who got the contract to do all the electrical remedial works on MK hospital.

My boss tried sending me there to do work a week before lockdown and I refused...

There is one consolation in being sick; and that is the possibility that he will recover to a better state than he was ever in before.

But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD. 🙏

I am so sorry, where he is they will be monitoring him. Can you insists he gets plent of hot drinks while he is in there loads. If he was at home, you would give him load of hot fresh lemon drinks amd also fresh ginger tea. Hot warm boiled water is good too. I have an old man here where I work he swears by it. He drinks this regularly. Make sure his throat is moist all the time.

Stay positive also for him. He will pull through. He is a fighter. I will keep my fingers crossed for you and him.

in reply toMegbird

Thank you, they are giving him plenty of drinks, but will insist on your advice x

Oh Dear Lord, I am so so sorry to hear this, it's a very worrying time for you all.

I hope and pray that he only has the mild form of it.

My son's partner, who works in a Care Home has tested positive for covid-19, but she has only mild symptoms. My Son, on the other hand, is on the "at risk" register as he has chronic ulcerative colitis, and is suffering a cough and wildly fluctuating temperatures...39.2 last night, I told him to dial 111.

I am, like you, worried sick about my Son,

Take Care and Stay Safe,

David

Hi Annie. Haven’t heard from you. Please tell me Kev is hanging on. Thinking of you all

Dave

in reply tocammeag

Hi Dave, sorry for late reply. Been on video chat with him, most of the day. Yes he's symptom less and the 2nd test they've done is negative. Our minds are blown to pieces. Just doesnt make any sense, but thank god its negative.

The transplant team were ment to see him between 5-6pm, but they haven't been. I'm extremely anxious, that this isn't going to be the news we need...hes very poorly...

cammeag profile image
cammeag in reply to

As I’ve said before Annie, my email is cammeag at gmail dot com so feel free to email whenever. I’m also on messenger under my proper name which I can give you if u email. I would love to try and lift Kevs spirits but he as you, will be anxious for good news from the transplant team. Mind you he will probably have to improve health for that. Also they have cut right back on transplants at moment due to this evil virus.

I really do hope they find a surgeon and a liver for Kevs sake.

Is he back on water tablets yet? Sometimes you have to chase them about state of kidneys as they determine what amount of diuretics you can have. All in all if he’s in a good liver unit they are normally on the ball just not very forthcoming with information.

You know where I am. Keep praying, read Psalm 83:18, find out Gods name...He won’t cure Kev but he can give you and the doctors the wisdom to help you help Kev.

Thinking of you Both

David

Try not to worry about the transplant team not seeing him, the virus is delaying pretty much everything in every sector right now. My Mum is on housing benefits and we just got put in a new flat but trying to sort out all the paperwork is an absolute nightmare at the moment...

For now, be happy that your son beat the virus! Remember what I told you about Idris Elba being a heavy asthmatic but beat the virus with no symptoms 😉 This is a sign that he is destined to live a long life!

Uplight99 profile image
Uplight99 in reply toUplight99

Your son is destined to live a long life, not Idris Elba*****

Update..

Our son and 2 others have had repeat tests, which have come back negative...confused...??? Yes we are!!

This is amazing news! Happy for you, at least that’s one less problem...

Stanford University just recently carried out the study and concluded that only 0.1-0.2% of people under the age of 50 are dying and that previous number have been taken out of proportion.

I say ‘only’ no amount of deaths can be classed as ‘only’ but it’s a lot less than previously thought. Hopefully we only here good news from here on out.

I got covid-19 in early March as a result of the receptionist at my GP practice sneezing into her elbow...what a croc. I have a weak immune system, problem with my white blood cell count, asthmatic, bronchitis, diabetes, enlarged spleen x30 cm, liver cirrhosis, porrtal hypertension etc. basically everytime I go out I get sick..no letter from govt. no food parcels etc. Imagine my surprise to survive the covid-19 with 3 bouts of flu in a row, confined to my bed,, 21 days isolation and no fresh food in the house, my symptoms were mild, so I would just say, testing positive is not the end, drink plenty of liquid, lemon juice sqieezed into water, strangely enough watermelon, Thank God!

Thank god you survived, I'm truly, absolutely, over the moon for you x

Hi Button
