The British Liver Trust who are the hosts of this forum advise against using all so called herbal or alternative remedies as they are not tested in the same way as proper medicines and their effects are untested and some can be negative on the liver. From what i've just read about MACA powder there seems to be little comment on appropriate doses, knowledge of side effects or contraindications. Your new pain may or may not be related to your use of the MACA powder but I certainly wouldn't be risking taking it owing to the potential risk to your liver. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...
Regardless of the MACA powder or your PBC have you had any other symptoms - joint pain is one of the symptoms of the covid-19 virus which is obviously worthy of keeping in mind should you have any further symptoms (fever, dry cough etc).

Depending on the dose, Maca powder can have high levels of copper which is generally bad for the liver. I was diagnosed with PBC a few months ago and my consultant warned me not to take anything he hadn't given me. Even the vitamins I take are ones he has prescribed. My joints used to ache a lot, but it has lessened after I was put on Vit D.
Hi tandid
I dont know anything about the powder but yes muscle/ joint pain is connecting to PBC.
I paid a lot if money for a herbal soecialist to help withmy menopause symptoms as i couldnt take hrt. I told her all my medical needs
So.e herbs were added for liver problems
On my last blood test my numbers were higher. I cant say if it was due to herbs but itz the only thing that had changed in my diet
Will see if next test improves since i stopped taking them
