Probiotics/Prebiotics

I was looking into getting some pro/prebiotics and I was wondering if anyone has some recommendations. I read my kids' culturelle last night and it said that people with compromised immune systems need to check with their doctor. Well, while I wait to connect with my liver specialist, I wanted to start researching here. Does anyone have any luck with a probiotic/prebiotic who has PBC? I'm at stage one, so very early in my diagnosis. I've had digestive issues with kimchi in the past but good with yogurt and sour kraut that has live cultures. PS, I'm in the US. Thank you!!

Hi and welcome-can't comment specifically about PBC but we have plenty on this forum who have experience and will. My own experience recently is that I'm using Kefir and it seems to help my digestive issues-can't make any scientific claims I'm afraid. I'm also using protein meal replacement shakes with pro-biotics added which are also beneficial it seems-aiding weight loss if that's a requirement.

Hi I can't advise you on what you can eat with your illness. I have had a TP due to ARLD and now take immunosuppressants I was told that I can't have probiotic yoghurt has it has live bacteria in it. I suggest you ask your consultant or a liver dietician for more information.
