Hi There

What exactly does your "liver screener" consist of please.

I ask because my hubbie is 8 years post transplant due to A1AD. His sister also has this and I can see a lot of similarities to Mike when he was pre transplant. She lives in Bournemouth and I am wondering what sort of test this screening consists of.

Thanks

Carole

Hi Carole,

Thanks for your comments about our LYL roadshow.

The screener is a simple lifestyle questionnaire that flags up any risk factors to your liver health, it assesses risk of diet, alcohol and viral hepatitis.

If the screener results show a potential risk to your liver health, then you may be offered a liver check with a FibroScan machine. This non-invasive, pain-free scan can give an indication of any liver damage and, depending on the result, you may be recommended to visit your GP to discuss further liver tests.

Please be aware that these events are run to raise awareness and are not diagnostic. We cannot offer a FibroScan check to people already diagnosed with a liver condition under the care of a healthcare professional, or patients who have received a liver transplant.

If your sister in law has any symptoms she is concerned about we would suggest she speaks with her own doctors so they can assess and order the medical investigations she may need.

Warm wishes
