Sorry folks. I know in the scheme of symptoms and what you all live with it is a trivial one but bothers me all the same. I don't look great anyway atm but have been losing hair really badly for quite a while now and it is getting really thin. Does it stop? (I am improving in health generally but hair still falling out) Thanks all. Wendy the Old Boiler

Trivial but........
Hi Wendy, do you know the reason for your hairloss? It might help to know in order find out how temporary it is.
It could be a symtom of your liver problems or alopecia brought on by anxiety or a recent trauma ? If It is the latter, it is possible to have a steroid injected into the scalp to encourage the hair to regrow. It worked for my sister along with recommended meditation sessions to help with relaxation and de- stressing.
Best wishes. Laura
Hi Laura. A sister of mine has alopecia. Her daughter. And, one of our children recently diagnosed too. Two of the three have underactive thyroids. The sister was asked by her dr. if anyone else in the family had it. At the time, no one else did. He relayed to her that she was starting a new trend. He was right.
Hi. Could be a number of things. Bald patches could be alopecia as Laura suggested. Normal hormonal changes could be another. Not sure if thyroid issues might cause hair loss but starting to wonder if they might. Vitamin deficiencies possibly? Thinking that certain eating disorders cause hair loss. Certain meds that you are on? Worth asking your doc. about anyways. Take care.
"Hair loss is common with cirrhosis not just for men. Hair loss is a complication of cirrhosis because of the hormonal changes that occur with cirrhosis and affects women also. Hair loss over the entire body and loss of sex drive in both sexes is common."
Liver disease the gift that keeps on giving!!

You are right, I lose one symptom and gain another!! Thank you for the confirmation Katie
Hi, Pre transplant I was losing quite a lot of body hair, didn’t need to shave as much either. Armpit and leg hair almost disappeared!! But within a couple of weeks of transplant I noticed incoming g back!! All back to normal now. Never lost it off my head though.
Andy.
It coming back - not incoming g!!!! Doh!!
Hi Wendy
Yes, when I was first diagnosed I had lots of hair coming out when I brushed or washed hair it but it wasn't really noticeable as I have loads of thick hair. As I have become healthier, I think the hair loss has reduced but is probably more than "normal". I also find my hair has been very dry and breaks easily. The best thing I found was Nu Skin Nutriol shampoo which stimulates growth of healthy hair.
I know it is trivial in the grand scheme of things but when you are struggling to feel good about yourself, you want to look as nice as possible !
My latest thing is patches of dry, flaky skin - but again fairly trivial compared to what some people are suffering.
I was told by my GP that my hair loss was down to anaemia caused by liver problems. I don’t tolerate iron tablets very well so have adjusted my diet. Steak and spinach for lunch today! Chicken livers tomorrow. It is so much better now. I also have a special hairbrush that can be used (gently) on wet hair. No blow drying, no styling. It will soon recover. 👩🏻🦰
