dietitian and cirrhosis

hi everyone i was diagnosed with non alcaholic cirhhosis about 18 months ago ..i also take other drugs that make it hard to keep weight off ..i have always been promised a referal to a dietitian but still havent seen one ....is this normal any suggestions ..andrew

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to our forum.

Sometimes referrals to hospital registered dietitians can take a while to get an appointment. Could you perhaps call your GP or liver consultant and see if they can investigate why it is taking so long. As you are probably aware, getting specific diet advice and guidance is very important if you have cirrhosis of the liver.

If you are in the UK we do have a nurse led helpline open Monday to Friday 10am to 3pm on 0800 652 7330 if you would like a chat.
